• Almost half of whites and blacks say they know someone who is racist

that really surprises me. I have never really seen or heard specific stories of racism, which is why I had no idea it was such a serious problem. After doing these racism blogs, I realized that racism still is a large problem. The fact that almost half of white and black people know racist people it really scary.

I agree, I don't seem to think that racism is a very big issue in the world. But I've come to realize that other parts of the world there are huge issues with racism, and I hear about people suing others for firing them becuase their black.

I agree with your opinion on The Onion. It was too hard to figure out what important problems it dealt with that by the time you figured it out, it wasn't funny anymore. I love how Da Ali G Show (I haven't seen Borat yet) and other shows like the colbert report and the daily show poke fun at events by helping everyone to understand what's going on, and making it extremely funny.

Like many Americans I do find Satire to be funny, shows such as South Park are my favorite shows. But I am aware that what I am watching isn't to be used as concepts in my everyday life.

Yeah, you'll definitely need to read some more. Luckily, I've arranged for you to do so (you're very welcome). I'll be pointing you to examples throughout this unit.

There's been a lot of coverage of that today--Mayor Bloomberg finally commented about it:

Lula, I agree with you completly. I also do not like adaptations very much, for I kind of feel like I become too caught up with the original, and an adaptation becomes almost foreign. But if I had to pick my favorite adaptation, it would probably would have "Throne of Blood." I just thought it was the most interesting than any of the other adaptations. The best part of Throne of Blood was most definetely Lady Macbeth. She just embodied evil, with her silent walk, to her blank expressions, everything about her was absolutley brilliant. Also, putting the three witches into one character was a great idea, and the song "she" sang was so creepy! You see, I work in a really weird way, for me to like the adaptation, it must be slightly different, and obviously, it must be good. "Umabatha," in my opinion was too similar to the Scottish Play. The only real difference was the dialect, and the character's names. It wasn't that interesting either. But then again, maybe I would have thought that it was better if I saw Umabatha as a film or play, instead of reading it in class.

I also didn't enjoy the travesty very much. I thought it tried way too hard to be funny, and honestly, it was just bad. The language however, wasn't awful, but other than that, it was sort of a disgrace to Shakespeare's version. I don't know, maybe I just can't stray from Shakespeare's work. I just it love it too much to accpet any other form of it.

I agree with Lula's opinion about the original of the play being the best. None of the other adaptations were really that good or entertaining. Throne of Blood was very similar to the Scottish Play which made it almost boring excpet for the over acted facial and physical expressions used by the actors. The scene where Macbeth kills Duncan and it is acted out in complete silence in Throne of Blood is very interesting because you can tell how powerful and serious that scene is just by the actions of the people rather than many other scene where words are needed to express the emotions that are felt. One cool part that Throne of Blood had was the ghost. The idea of actually making it one person rather than three and making it actually evil was very interesting and it made the movie better. When the Macbeth character of Throne of Blood goes to visit the witch before the battle and he goes insane about killing and spilling the blood of his enemies, it was really intense and actually made me want to see what would happen. The idea of the walking trees was also very good because it actually looked as though this prophecy of the witch would finally come true in the eyes of the Macbeth character but in reality it was just the opposing army using the trees as cover.
